Overview of MDF/HDF board:
MDF, or medium density fiberboard is a kind of man-made panel made from composite wood. Specifically, MDF is made from wood waste (specifically the fibers) that is glued together using either heat, resin or pressure.
High density fibreboard (HDF) contains more wood fibre per cubic metre than MDF board.

MDF is a better material compared to other popular materials like particleboard (chipboard), wood planks or plywood for a number of reasons.
The surface is flat, smooth, uniform, dense and free of knots and grain patterns. The homogeneous density profile of these panels allows intricate and precise machining and finishing techniques for superior finished MDF products.
Trim waste is significantly reduced when using MDF compared to other substrates. Stability and strength are important assets of MDF, which can be machined into complex patterns that require precise tolerances.
MDF can be used just as they are plain, but most of the time will be laminated with melamine paper, wood veneers, UV paint, acrylic, HPL, polyester, etc.
